King George County, Virginia
King George County was created from Richmond County on 23 April 1721. In 1731 a portion of King George County was used to create Prince William County. In 1777, the southern part of Stafford County was transferred to King George County, and the northern part of King George County was transferred to Stafford County. In 1778, small portions of King George County and Westmoreland County were exchanged to create the present day boundary of King George County. The courthouse is located in the town of King George.
